Sure, if you are on a hunting revier. My friend is about to take one over in April. His house is on the revier. So, he can shoot from his house.

I didn't need any permit before buying any of my firearms, or classes, LE approval, etc. I think there are still more hoops to jump through in Germany.

Last AK clone I bought was on a whim at a pawn shop. Just walked in, haggled the price, filled out my form and since I already had a CHL didn't have to wait for a background check. Without the carry listen ce it would have been a 10 minute wait for the background check.

Jaeger, what did you need to do before you bought your AR?

I wanted to make sure I could get it, so I called a government office in Cologne. They said it had to be a certain length and I needed an extra 2 round mag for hunting (German law). It took awhile because all of Germany's gun registrations were going through this one office. They got back to me with the ok. Technically I could have walked into the store and bought it right away after showing my hunting license. That is correct, I can walk into a store and buy an AR or Ak or G3 right away. I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. After buying the gun, I have two weeks to register it. It is adding in my weapons card. But, I can hunt with it during this process.

What did it take to get your hunting license?

I took a hunting course and tested out. I purchased hunting insurance (100 euros for 3 years) that covers my guns and any mishaps. This includes my hunting dog. (covers me for 2 million). Took my test, commander's approval, FBI background check and test to town hall. I got my hunting license. I wanted to hunt, so I do not count this in getting my weapons. This is a hunting hurdle. I could have just taken a weekend competition course and got a competition license on Monday. Very easy that route.

I don't think that anyone is trying to say that firearms laws are less strict in Europe than America, because they are stricter in Europe no argument. What we are saying is that they are not as bad as some in America like to make out for some reason, what reason I don't know.

What he said.. Never bring a handgun to a rifle fight.
Even the small grain 223 rounds are muych more effective than event a 357 mag round.

IF you use the 'right' bullet for the job!!!! If not there are times when a handgun will stop the fight as quick if not quicker than the long gun.

A semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun is devastating in CQC. Tear up a choke point in the house!
