The 700's are prone to accidental discharges. Their triggers have a poor design.

There are many lawsuits.

Do a search on the net or use www.boardreader for the topic on forums.

you might want to take a hard look at this video. it really disproves your misinformed statements about the Reminton M700's. they are prone to accidental discharges by people who more than likely performed unauthorized trigger adjustments and didn't make the proper safety procedure checks afterwards.

yes there have been many lawsuits against Remington, and many have been dropped or found in the favor of Remington.

and linking some guys statement from another forum doesn't add any credibility to your statements in the least. you might seriously do some more fact checking before making incorrect and misinformed statements in the future.

you got it exactly right JP. you know i am a fan of the M700, but also i realize that it's not the only or best bolt action rifle ever made. but it is a good design and they have sold boat loads of them since they came out in 1962. the military and LE still use them. if they were such poor performing rifles with all the problems that the internet myths say the have, does a person with common sense think the military and LE would still be buying and using them? i seriously doubt it.

yep, over ten years later and these internet rumors and myths are still floating around. simply amazing.

I too am a fan of the Remington 700. I would also disregard the 'accidental' lawsuit.

Remington had money that lawyers wanted. I am not a fan of Lawyers.

I love to look at the racks of used ones. . . I wish I could buy them all, in each caliber, in each model.
But then again, I want to do this with all the guns.

Too be honest, I just like typing CRAP! I use a Howa 1500. Back when I bought it it had a recall, an issue with the bolt and firing when there was no trigger pull. I did not have an issue at all, but sent my bolt in anyway. Came back w/ a stamp to show it had been checked. Sound familiar? The 1500 and 700 share many similarities.

in most cases where they could be tested, those rifles that allegedly fired accidentally could never be duplicated by either Remington or the plaintiffs representatives. even those that did, were found to improperly adjusted trigger pull weights. this isn't a Remington design flaw in the least, but backyard gunsmithing at the worst level and responsiblity.
