Default Rifle Setup

This is what I went with:

Savage Centerfire Hunting Rifle 116FCSS

http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-ri...ff-3-9x40.html

http://www.opticsplanet.net/burris-1...eel-rings.html

http://www.opticsplanet.net/burris-x...ece-bases.html

Harris Ultralight LM 1A2 Series Bipod

This was the best I could do with my available budget

Gimme some feedback please!!!!

Congrats, looks like it ought to make you a nice hunting rig. What caliber did you go with?

Great pick, an American classic. I don't have one right now, gave my old trusty 742 Remington in 30-06 to my oldest son after a somewhat costly trip to a gunsmith for a complete overhaul. It filled our freezer a few times over when I was using it. I may replace it with a nice bolt rifle some day. Right now I have a .270 and a .308 for white tail and a .300 Win mag for bear. Honestly the 06 did both just fine.

That rifle has a nice weight and I like the 22" barrel length. I had some problems with the links for the optics and rings. No matter.

The '06 holds a place in my heart as well, it was the caliber of the first rifle I used deer hunting when I was a teenager.

I'm sure it will serve you well. Please keep us in the loop.

caliber?

doesn't really matter, you did well with the budget, i probably would have went with a higher magnification on the scope.

however you really didn't scimp on much, good shooting rifle with good quality accessories.
