A little more info. Those rings are solid, not split. If you want to set up anything like it you need a period scope that is steel and can be taken apart, including the bells. Sarco sells a short side rail, and a long side rail base and mount that uses split rings and has the appropriate shims for modern scopes. Any smith can install them.

Wow, alot of work went into that. Yea side mount would have to be my choice due to the cost. But that would be awsome on my gun. I like that look better then aide mounts.

I'm guessing that is a Soviet capture. I can tell you how to clean the black paint off, and bring the stock back, no sanding. Send me a PM. Sarco has the correct sight hood for 6.00 or so. I might be able to find you a correct sling also, if you need one, again cheap.

BTW, I like were you started. Is that a '53 Soviet SKS?
