Which rifle caliber should I buy .308 or .270?

Recoil is not an issue. I will mainly be hunting white tail in north/mid Georgia. If you know of good brands or specific guns for either caliber please name them. Price $300-$650

Savage

Look at used or new savage

I personally would choose .308, because ammunition is more available (atleast where I live) and cheaper. You'll be able to get more trigger time with the .308 due to the availability of it.

Some of the manufacturers I would look at are Savage, Remington, Ruger, and Winchester.

I like to .308 as a do everything I need.
Preferably in a bolt action with a good scope.

I'd flip a coin or get the best deal on either :)

I was thinking of getting a bolt action .308, probably a savage. Anyway, what is a good scope for one for around $200-$250.

Both are great for deer, if hunting clear cuts I would lean towards the 270.

You can't go wrong with either one.

First, Georgiahunter,

Welcome to the Firearms Talk Forums.

Second, Gunbroker is your fraind...

I'd look into a CZ, Remington, Savage, or Ruger bolt action with a nice scope.

Both calibers have a lot going for them. Perhaps you should try a couple before

you buy.
