i have a Marlin XS7 in 7mm-08 that i want to rebarrel. i want to keep the same caliber and chambering, but get rid of the 22" sporter barrel and go with a SS 26" heavy barrel.
Bet that would be pretty sweet. I had a marlin xs7 in 308. But once this scare hit and the only box of shells I could find was 48 dollars I traded it off for a Winchester 30-30. I want to get one of the heavy barrel 22-250

Marlin has the XS7VH in three calibers now, the 308, the 22-250 and the 223. i love my 308! have done some modifications to it, such as, added more weight, (weighs 13.5 lbs. now) adjusted and smoothed up the trigger, reinforced the forend, modified the one piece scope mount to a two piece, mounted a Swift Premier 8-32x50 scope and did a camo paint job on the stock. has less felt recoil than my 204 Ruger!

That's what is on my AR build in that picture. I've just about gone strictly to Mueller optics now.

i took my old .30-06 remington 700, put a barrel chambered for .308 on it and it cycled just fine even though it was a short action round in a long action. plus, the army m24 was a long action rifle chambered in .308 (which are now being converted to .300)

i used to have this same scope on my remington 700P. good all around scope with good glass for the money. never had an issue with it at all. the only thing i didnt like about it was that it was a SFP reticle and had to be on 10x to range anything with it. but i've still got it and might toss it on another rifle one day.

How do they hold up to abuse because I thought about putting one on one of my hunting rifles?

I've had zero issues with them. crisp clear and dependable. you can give them a call and ask them about them, Such as the type of shooting you will be doing ,the caliber you will be shooting, and the environments you expect to find yourself in. Ask about their warranty and services....

I now have 5 of them mounted. The latest are on my daughters (twins) 7mm-08's and they consistently hit the kill zone at 500yards. Of course we spend a lot of trigger time and they are disciplined markswomen. But their optics are a major part of seeing clearly.
