well all i can say about the M770 is that in my opinion, they are not a quality rifle by any means. i bought one several years ago, and was sadly disappointed in it and soon later i sold it for less than i paid and was truly glad to be rid of it. yes i hear some are even reasonably accurate, but form what i have seen and experianced with them, this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. even a broke watch is right twice a day!
for a person who hunts once or twice a year, and doesn't want to spend a bunch of money on a hunting rifle and is only a casual hunter, and just needs the very most basic hunting rifle, capable of minute of deer, then the M770 might be an option. for the discerning hunter who hunts regularly and the shooter who shoots more than 20 rounds a year, there are much better rifles, and many that don't cost much more than the M770.
so in closing, HBB, if the M770 floats your boat and you are happy with it, then good luck and enjoy it. i have just have higher expectations from my rifles that what the M770 is capable of delivering. any firearm in my collection that doesn't meet my expectations in function or accuracy does not reside in my collection very long.
