What's so bad about the 770? I've been considering getting one.

I'm 6'1 195 lbs and I can set the side of the reciever against my knee and snap the barrel off from it. The bolts stay sloppy and rough no matter what you do to em. The ejecters break like glass. Triggers are rougher than sand paper. I can snap the bolt handles off the bolt w my bare hands. Recievers made of cheap azz pot metal. Screws strip out of em really easy and finally the barrels really flimsy.

I'd like to see a video of THAT! Ha ha. I have nothing to prove, just surprised that I did it that's all. For all the bad reviews the rifle gets, I'm just sayin. What I did was "walk" the shot in, hell, you could do it with iron sights if you could see that far. And these rifles aren't that bad, you get what you pay for.

Nothin, just some people have different points of view. Depends on what you want it for, how much money you have, how you treat it and if it's your first big bolt gun id say it's a good starter. I'm having fun with it.

walking shots in does not prove accuracy. like i said, i have had one, and it was one of the worst excuses for a rifle i have ever owned. bought it new, sold it less than a month later, for less than i paid for it and was glad to rid of it. for not much more money there are much better rifles than the M770. the Marlin X7 series, the Savage Axis series, the Stevens M200, the Mossberg ATR series. some of these can even be bought at near the same price as the 770.
i'm sorry HBB, but IMO you have not proven that the 770 is accurate by any means. just about anyone, with just about any rifle could possibly walk rounds in and hit a target.

and before you think i don't have an idea of what i am talking about, i have owned one of those POS rifles, and have shot and sighted in many, and they are at best, minute of deer rifles. mine even with a decent scope, could only get a 2.5-3" group at 100 yards. those rifles are not known for being accurate, and when paired with a cheap 3-9x40 scope............

Walking it in is the only way

Maybe, stretching the truth a bit.

Hey there is nothing wrong w/ being proud of your 1st medium bore centerfire. Just be honest. You don't have to impress anyone, we are all happy you have the same interest as we do. I did not try to come across as hostile. It takes quite a bit of practice, skill, and sometimes luck when shooting at 700 yards.

Mines decent it doesn't have the rough bolt problems a lot of people have had. Smooth bolt feeds reliably and can get 1 inch groups at 100 with an after market Simmons 3-9x50. The scope that remmington sends on it is complete crap
