Remington model 660 rifle

I traded for a Remington model 660 in 308 winchester caliber this week, I have not seen a model 660 before. The rifle is in excellent condition and has an older weaver scope on it. Can anyone tell me approx. how old this rifle is? I have about $550 in it, What is the approx. value of this gun? Condition is Very Good to Excellent. Thank You for any help you can give me.

You WILL want a recoil pad for that one. Trust me.

What he said up there on values and dates. If you want exact date, find the 3 letter code stamped on the barrel, compare it to this table-

Forgot to mention- there IS a safety recall on the 600 and 660s made before 1975- under certain conditions, rifle can fire when safety is taken off. Had one that was doing that. Remington will send you a shipping tag and do the fix at no charge. DO call their customer service number and seee if yours has been thru the shop. They usually stamp a tiny letter on the SIDE of the trigger to indicate mod was done.

Had a 660 Magnum when I was stationed in Alaska- in .350 magnum. While it was good medicine for bear, that thing HURT to shoot!
