actually i have owned a M770 in 30-06. probably the worst excuse for a rifle i ever owned. the bolt was rough and sticky. the trigger was heavy and gritty feeling. it shot groups like a shotgun patterns. and for the record, i like Remingtons and own many Remington firearms. also this was not just a one rifle deal either, as i have shot many M770's in various cailbers and all that i have shot, couldn't group worth a dang.
and please don't tell me it must have been me, because i have been shooting guns well over 40 something years and own some very accurate rifles, plus i also reload for all my centerfire rifles and even tried some handloads in the M770 with no good results either.
as for the M783, haven't seen one in person yet, so i don't know if they have improved the failings of the M770 or not. personally, i would probably just pass on the M783 and just buy a M700 instead. i know that one is a proven platform.
