My rem 770 has a bad bolt stick issue. Soo if u load the magazine and shoot it that way the 1st and some times 2nd shots you have the pull pretty hard to open the bolt then after that the rest of the 2 outof 4 shots are smooth as can be and even if you manually load 1 at a time it does the same thing! I have used Hoppes gun cleaner and its bean cleaned then lubricated with hoppes gun oil. still makes no difference i think it is the exspansion of the caseing but im not certain!

Sometimes, after cleaning, you will leave a little too much oil in the chamber, causing the cartridge to stick a little untill the oil has finally worked itself out. This might not be whats going on with your rifle, but it is something to think about. I believe this has something to do with the oil taking up room in the chamber causing higher pressures for awhile.

the bolt will sometimes stick from too much oil in the chamber, but the problem is that it lubes the case.upon firing, the case expands and temporarily seizes itself to the chamber walls. lube stops this and allows it to slam back into the bolt.

Your chamber should be bone dry when firing. Try that and see if it still happens.

I had a similar issue with mine. I asked a local gunsmith and he said keep shooting. So after about 500 rnds the stick problem seems to have went away. Plus I got to learn the rifle really good!!!

must have somthing to do with the rifle heating up thats causing it to stick
