Remington 721

I have an old Remington 721 of my fathers that was bought new over 60 years ago. My 36 year old son who should have known better dropped the rifle while climing a dear stand and broke the stock. Is there any where I can find a replacememt with out having to rework another stock or is that my only choice. I would like to put a walnut back on it but will take what ever I can get at this point.

If am not mistaken the 721 and the 700 BDL long action are very similar. It is possible a stock for the 700 might fit. If not, Boyds makes a laminated semi inleted stock for the 721 along with a line of stocks for the 700. I believe Ram-line make a synthetic stock that fits. There are quite a few mfg out there and a google search for the stock might be in order. If your son is that clumsy the synthetic might be in order.

Might want to repost in the "Rifle" section. This section is for troubleshooting and questions regarding the forum.

Thanks folks I'll check out the sights give thinks for the help.

If I posted on the wrong page apologize still trying to learn my way around.

As for my son I do believe even if I do get the gun fixed he want be getting it back. Told him to go buy a cheap 30-30 if he wanted to keep hunting.

The 721 is not an expensive gun but one of a few I got from my father. I think in the early 1950's Mom paid around $125 to $150 for the rifle a soft gun case and a box of ammo. He used it to get his first deer in New Mexico where they lived back then.

Check out Boyd's stocks for orginal and laminate. You might have to do a bit of demil work and a maybe a nice oil finish but boyds makes a good prodcts. The 721 was and still is a nice action and in good shape is worth more than some remmy junk today to some. - http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/CLA-REM-721-W-SI-p/300-126.htm

I have a Remington 721 that I inherited after my Grandpa passed. I love that rifle. I'm glad you got it back together.:)
