Remington 710 Bolt

What is the best way to smooth a 710 bolt without paying alot of money?

Dillinger 04-15-2008 07:31 PM

Please define "smooth" - Do you mean lapping the lugs smooth?

If I remember right the 710 has a polymer bolt sleeve. I do not own one but have friends who do. I have been told that silicon grease or white lithium gun grease can help a lot. I have not read the manual so make sure there is not a disclaimer on certain oils or grease that can be used so you do not hurt the polymer sleeve.

710 bolt

If the bolt travel on your 710 is rough-it means the plastic sleeve is already kaput. I HIGHLY reccomend trading it off as it is commonly known to be POS!!!

I own a used 710. When I first bought it, the bolt action wasn't very smooth. I did some research and found that silicone lube is the best. After a few cleanings, each time using a silicone impregnated cloth on the bolt, the action just got smoother and smoother. Its like new now.

those guns are rough right out of the box, they will get smoother over time if they dont break first. Might want to put it away for a rainy day since remington dont make them anymore and one day you might can get upwards of 100 bucks for it ;)
((( just kiding ya, I'm only being serious))

I'll take it!.......Hate it, hate the look of it, hate the 'orrible magazine, hate the feel of it, hate the bolt......shoots OK but if I dwell on it I will find something I hate about that too, I hate it's got Remington written on it....it deserves to have a French owner, and just as soon as I can stomach looking at it I'm going to flog it to one, so I never have to see or hear from it again!............
