7mm-08 is a great deer hunting caliber, and it does have a very light recoil. You can shoot some really nice high B.C. bullets out of them also to reach on out there if you want.

Great cartidge with a good choice for factory loads from 120gr to 162gr. Check out ammoseekers for a list of loaded ammo for hunting. Great handloads cartidge too.

very good caliber for deer sized game. the recoil is light enough that many offer the caliber in youth models. like the 243, the 7mm-08 is a good caliber for a youth or a veteran shooter or hunter. i like my 7mm-08 and waited 20 years to own one. the biggest downside to the caliber is the selection of ammo available in many stores and the price of the ammo. if you plan on shooting a lot of this one, would be a time to consider reloading if you don't already. i have shot maybe one box of factory ammo in mine, everything else was handloads over the last three years.

the CDL is a very nice Remington to own and one in 7mm-08 is really nice. what did you end up paying for it? the CDL is a step up from the BDL.

not bad for a scoped CDL rifle! MSRP is $1020 for that rifle, with out a scope and rings or bases. so i would say you done real good on that deal. enjoy it, i know i would! you will like the 7mm-08 caliber once you start shooting it. i would suggest that you consider maybe getting into reloading, as it will make it more cost effective to shoot that caliber. if i didn't reload for mine, it would put a serious crimp in the amount of shots fired through mine. the 7mm-08 is an easy one to reload for, and will give you another small gain in accuracy over the factory ammo.
