$$$ Remington 700 trigger guards??

Why are aftermarket trigger guards so expensive? For the Rem. 700, there are many that are $200-$300? I know that on some Remington models, such as many ADLs, the guard is polymer/plastic and an upgrade makes sense but what justifies the cost of these i see at Midway and Brownells? The material and labor cant possibly justify it-Is there some great benefit that makes up for the rest of the cost?

Most aftermarket are quality built using billets of steel that are machined. Factory triggerguards are cast from varying materials, most quite inexpensive. Its all about quality. In days of old when guns were used and carried daily, they were subject to severe conditions. This is where high quality, hand machined guns shine. View the program "YUKON MEN", and you will notice how abused their guns get. Carried in boats with no gun case, used to push logs in the river, ect. They do have cheap guns as well, as in our throw away, when thing break, just throw it away. In pre WWII days a purchase was made to last a lifetime.

Yes I saw those as well but it was the ones that were in the 200-300+ dollar range that I was refering to. Just learning- didn't realize there was that broad of an application for bottom metal.

Hey you can buy a good functioning 1911 for 450 bucks or pay 3000+ . Both do pretty much the same thing and nether one my feed hp ammo. ha . Same goes for rifles. Live and learn but don't whine or bitch about it.
