If this is strictly a hunting riffle I would look more at a savage due to weight differences but if you aren't packing it all over the place and you got the extra money go with the 700.

Thanks. I have been interested in a .308 as well. I am leaning towards a savage due to the money. As you can see I have a new baby that loves my money. Lol.
