Default Remington 700 misfiring

If you have Netflix you might want to have a look at this CNBC report on misfiring of the Remington Model 700 bolt action.

The Netflix title is: CNBC, Remington under fire.

Claims Remington 700 can go off without touching the trigger. Has anyone heard of this other than the CNBC report.

[insert dead eyes and hollow stare of disbelief here]

Any gun can have misfires. The legendary Colts are bound to have misfires. As to the gun going off by itself, im calling bullsh!t. I only know of 2-3 guns that have a free floating firing pin that would even make something like this possible, the R700 isn't one of those guns.

This was "discovered" about 10 years ago. The 700 is one of the most popular bolt rifles ever made and has been/still is used by many police and military units.

Wasn't it something about a SAFTEY not effectively blocking when DROPPED, not a random ad? I agree, it's a witch hunt.

yes another internet rumour found to be, unfounded. funny thing is, there were some lawsuits filed against Remington for these so-called "misfiring" rifles, and they could never get them to duplicate the problems that claimed. yes there have been some Remingtons that "misfired", but many were found to have improperly adjusted triggers, which were found to be unsafe.

Any network with the initials N-B-C in one form or another need to work 10X as hard for actual credibility with me. Anyone remember the exploding GM pickups? They were oh so dangerous, yet they couldn't make them explode without adding rocket engines to "help" things along.
Dateline NBC aired an investigative report on Tuesday, November 17, 1992, titled “Waiting to Explode”. The 60 minute program was about General Motors Chevrolet C/K pickup trucks allegedly exploding upon impact during accidents due to the poor design of fuel tanks. Dateline's film showed a sample of a low speed accident with the fuel tank exploding. In reality, Dateline NBC producers had rigged the truck’s fuel tank with remotely controlled model rocket engines to initiate the explosion. The program did not disclose the fact that the accident was staged. GM hired Failure Analysis Associates (FaAA, now Exponent) whose investigators studied the film, and discovered that smoke actually came out of the fuel tank six frames before impact. Acting on a tip from someone involved in the Dateline crash test, FaAA investigators searched through 22 junkyards in Indiana before finding the charred wreckage of the GM pickup.[7][8] GM subsequently filed an anti-defamation/libel lawsuit against NBC after conducting an extensive investigation. On Monday, February 8, 1993, GM conducted a highly publicized point-by-point rebuttal in the Product Exhibit Hall of the General Motors Building in Detroit that lasted nearly two hours after announcing the lawsuit.[9] The lawsuit was settled the same week by NBC, and Jane Pauley read a 3 minute 30 second on-air apology to viewers.
When properly maintained, the Remington 700 has nothing to prove to the likes of NBC News.

its complete fake report.

you can only do this by adjusting a remington trigger way to far past its adjustment range. in a factory trigger that hasnt been monkeyed with its just fine
