So I want a good accurate rifle, I have been looking into a remington 700. What is the difference between the 700 ADL and the SPS varmint? I'm looking for something that shoots .308, recommendations are welcome. Thanks.

Look at Tikka. I love mine, and 3 of my friends have gotten one after shooting mine. They have all been tac drivers right out of the box. You can connect all the holes at 100 yards once you find what ammo they like.

SPS has a thicker barrel that won't heat up as much after multiple shots at the range = accuracy improvement. The ADL has the standard 22" barrel, and the magazine is internal. If you are going to do a lot of big game hunting, get the 700 ADL/BDL/CDL. If you are going to do a lot of long-range target practice and/or shoot prairie dogs and varmints, get the SPS

I have a 700 adl in 30-06. Accurate as the day is long

The magazine is the big difference. Some have a 'blind' magazine, some have no floor plate, some have detachable mags. I prefer a blind magazine with a floor plate for hunting. CDL and BDL's offer that. The ADL has no floor plate, which means to empty the rifle you must rack the bolt and eject the rounds one at a time through the ejection port when unloading the gun. The SPS varmint has a floor plate as well.

If you're looking at a field gun...the SPS varmint is heavy and you'll notice it if you're carrying it.

This rifle shoots 1 inch groups at 100 yards. And at 250 yards, strapped down it shoots 3/4 inch groups.

You cannot go wrong with a Remington 700.

US Army and US Marines use this platform, for their sniper rifle. They can and do, hit head size targets at 1000 yards.

I have shot a remington 700 in 270 and I hit a water bottle at 250yds, first shot.

5 rounds @ 100 yard zero.

My 100 yard zero that this 300 Win Mag in a Remington 700 rifle with a trued reciever and Kreiger barrel that can do this all day long.
