Default Remington 700
What are your thoughts on a Remington 700 SPS Long Range Rifle? Im looking for a somewhat cheap long range rifle. Would I be better off getting a Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .308? Its main purpose will be target shooting.

That really depends on how serious you are about target shooting. Do you plan on competing or do you just want to blast golf balls?

Im not into competition shooting but I just want a fun accurate gun... Whenever I go to the range all the guys want to shoot 300+ yds, and my remington 7400 can't keep up against their 700s

I have a Remington 700 .308 aac-sd and so far I have been able to hit a 2 liter at 600 yards and I'm still going so they are worth the money

Right now sportsmans warehouse has Remington 700 adl in 308 for $379.99 with a scope on it. That leaves plenty on cash for a nice scope bipod and ammo. The sps is replacing the adl. So it's almost exactly the same. Not to mention all 700s have the same action, so it can be upgraded from that base model.

Not sure if you are near a dicks sporting good, or if they have any left but I bought the 700 varmint in 308 for what will be 310 dollars after rebates. I can't wait to go pick it up this afternoon. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
