Controled feed has a claw extractor and fully supports the case head. A push feed does not support the case head completely and can be used as a single shot. In most states a loaded mag is the same as a loaded rifle. Loading an internal mag takes seconds. Just one less thing to go wrong. The arguement of an external mag over an internal fixed is it reloads faster, well if all you are doing is changing a mag, ok. But it only takes seconds to feed a few more rounds into an interal without dropping an exteral and loading it. My oldest and middle sons both have Swedish Mausers as their hunting rigs. They usually load 3 cartridges when we enter the woods. They've never needed a second shot. One has a 6.5x55, which will take Moose w/ very little felt recoil, the other has a 9.3x57, still very light recoil. Actions are smooth as glass. One is a '94 action, one a '96. That is 1800..
