I have a long haul trucker friend That wants to rebarrel his Sweede Mauser to 25 06 or 6mm. Is this an easy change or should he sell the Sweede and buy another rifle? He was looking at 257 Roberts barrels but didn't like the price of the ammo. I told him the 6.5 was an excellent round and to just shoot it. He is well educated but not very smart in my book.
Second question was after repairs are completed will he have to go through the backround check and pay fee's to have his rifle returned?

The 6.5 is a very good cartridge. Even if the conversion could be done safely, your friend wouldn't gain much, or anything, especially with the 6mm or .257 Roberts.
Maybe an upgrade to a mauser 98,if he is really set on 25/06.You didnt say
what he was going to use it for.243 is a nice round for swedish Mausers.I
have seen them in 308,but i would rather go with the98 reciever.
