Is this a "real" paratrooper SKS?

As titled, is this the "real thing". The stock was a blondish color but was sanded and stained dark. It has a blunt tip spike bayonet. It has matching numbers on the trigger guard, bolt, frame.

I have read that the Chinese "paratrooper" SKS was never issued to any military unit; it was developed for the American market. Maybe somebody will enlighten me if this is untrue.

That being said, your rifle does look like the "paratrooper" SKS. There was a similar 16"-barrelled rifle called the Cowboys Companion, but it did not have any provision for mounting a bayonet.

Looks to be one! The wood finish is wrong, so that makes me go Hmmmm.
If it had the bayonet that fit, that would seal the deal.

I would say no, its not a paratrooper model. The paratrooper had a much shorter barrel that what you are showing in the pics.

This is the size and look of the paratrooper model, the paratrooper model will also take standard AK-47 mags, or so I've read.

I think the AK-mag version was called the Type 84..... again, never issued to any military unit. Developed for the American market.

Nonetheless, it is a pretty slick rifle, I wouldn't mind having one.

EDIT - My mistake, I just looked around on Gunbroker. The AK-mag versions of the SKS were called Model D or Model M, depending on whether they had 16" barrels or standard barrels.

I think the pictures throw off the barrel length. I'll try to post a full picture.

The barrel is a short barrel.

Again, the stock has been hand sanded and rubbed with dark stain, originally it was a blondish color, it does have a bayonet but not shown.
