Default Questions About Older 1894 Lever action

I picked up an older Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag.
It has the Brass Saddle ring. I understand very few were made with the Brass ring.
It looks like it was made in 1971, Ser # 2491XX.
Can anyone tell me if this is a collectable rifle?
It's in about 70%, paid $200. from a guy down on his luck, not a bad deal. That's all he wanted.
It will clean up pretty nice.

Any info would be apriciated.

Thanks, John K

You did well. I would think collector value would be minimal. Use jacketed bullets, you'll love it.

IIRC, subtract the first 2 digits of the SN from 100 for year. There is intrest in these, especially with Cowboy Action shooters, and some states that permit pistol caliber rifles for deer (but no high power). Collectors are generally looking for very high condition.

Thanks, I just know very few were made with the brass ring, so I thought it might add to the value.

+1 on the jacketed bullets, I'm still rying to get all the lead removed from the rifling. it's getting there.
