Has anyone ever heard or seen a left hand lever action, where the shell is ejected on the left? If not, is it possible to custom machine it?

I've only seen left handed bolt actions. I suppose it could be done, but you'd prolly have to ask JD if anyone does it. I would expect the price to be rather high. I've not had any problems with my Henry ejecting shells into my face, but it's only the .22. Seems to me that a top eject would probably be about the best thing you could get.

I did some checking around. Most instructors consider a lever action saddle carbine to be an ambidextrous firearm. Which makes sense in a way. Saddle carbines are designed to be held with either hand and loaded with the other no matter which side you favor. Think about it a minute. You can hold a lever action vertically in front of you and load the port or tube with either hand. Some of the instructors consider the lever action saddle carbine to be a good option for a left handed shooter in a world of right-handed people.

Sure, it would be possible, IF you want to throw enough money and time into it.

But older Winchesters just tossed the empty hull more or less straight up. Same as the Italian clones of the M92 and M1873 rifles.

And, for shotguns, the old Ithaca M37 tossed the hull out the bottom. And, a fine double will toss your hulls anyway you direct them.

And, the Ruger No.1 can simply extract and hold your case for easy hand removal.

I shoot left handed,and have several lever action guns and many semi autos and have never had a problem with spent cases hitting me after firing the weapons. Don't worry about it and just go shoot!

Savage makes a right hand bolt with a left side eject.

Just get one that ejects out the top. So it spits hot brass on your head and not in your line of sight.

I'm a lefty and I had a Marlin 336 that I had no problems with at all. I've shot a lot of rifles with right hand ejection and never had a casing hit me or distract me in any way.

My Dad is left handed and always wanted a left handed bolt action. Some years back I bought him 2 brand new 700's and guess what? He said he really appreciated my gifts BUT he was so use to useing the right hand versions the left hand versions were ackward for him. We end up selling them and he now has an Encore with a multitude of barrels to match and a right handed Marlin 1894 in a 41 mag that he loves. The right hand eject doesn't effect him at all. Winchester has a top eject versions, but they are not the most scope friendly rifles. If you are going to scope it I would stay away from a winchester.
