Well, i worked with a guy who spent his entire time in vietnam as an MP looking for a Thompson to replace his "poodle shooter". It would seem like .45ACP would be better at making bigger holes in close targets, what with the slower round transferring more energy & such. Either one would make bigger smiles on the shooter.

Oh, the MP finally saw one guy at a range with a Thompson, yep he was high brass.

Why do i want one in 10mm? Well, in case of bears of course.

.223 would not be a good guide caliber as it lacks the take down power you might need when you become the prey and not the predator... otherwise not too much...

The Ruger carbine is a good choice if you can find one. They come in .45 and 9mm.

Here is my 9mm.

Penetration and diameter of the 45acp and 460 Rowland out of a rifle barrel is better on hard cartlidge and bone than a 5.56 Nato, especially on 300 pound hogs, and the performance gets better with a 44 magnum carbine.

I'd love a 44 magnum Ruger carbine but they're getting hard to find. So I'll settle for one of the 44 magnum lever actions from Marlin when I get around to getting to that part of my gun-list.

I tried one in 9mm but felt cheaply made and seveal things need upgrading before it could start to feel nice to me, besides it's not in 45acp or 460 Rowland.

I bought a High Point 995. It is a fun carbine to shoot. It comes in 9mm, .40, and or. 45. Lifetime warranty!

Is that carbine similar to the roni carbine pistol conversion kit.
