Default Picked Up Three Rifles Today

Stopped on my way to work this morning to look at some scrap metal that a neighbor has they need to get rid of. When I got there she mentioned she has a few rifles and some reloading equipment that needs to go as well. Unfortunately my camera has a dead battery, so you will have to wait until tomorrow for pictures, but here are the descriptions.

1) .45/70 Model 1886 lever action. Behind the trigger it has stamped "OCT 14, 1884" above "JAN 20, 1885" with a serial # 1061XX
It says 45.70 on the heavy octagonal barrel but nowhere does it say Winchester (probably re-barreled?)

It has a Lyman 66a rear peep sight and a Marble Sheard front bead. Double triggers (very light- I don't have a snap cap so I am just felling it with my thumb on the hammer) Condition is remarkably good, but well worn. Stocks are well worn but not damaged.

2) Remington Matchmaster model 513-T with a Redfield extension receiver rear sight and an odd looking (to me) Redfield shrouded front sight with a changeable aperature. This one is in poor condition. Lots of rust spots and the stock is pretty beat up.

3) A Winchester Model 77 (missing the magazine at this point- might find one in the rest of the stuff) this is in pretty darned good condition and does not appear to have been fired much, but I will have to clean it to be able to tell for sure (lots of dust and cat hair stuck in all of the oil).

Also got a bunch of reloading gear, including a Lyman Ideal no. 310 hand reloading set with dies for the 45/70, and another complete set for 30/06.

Lyman bullet molds for 45/70, 30/06 and .45 (stuff here for an M1911- no gun though).

There are three powder measures, one of which is unused- all three are Lyman Ideal #55s.

More dies and molds. Too many to list right now.

Did I mention that all of this cost me $200? I'll be taking that much in scrap metal off of her hands as well. I offered that it was not a fair deal for her but she insisted that is what she wants to do.

Sounds like a great pick to me. I want pictures! Gimme! I love project guns and for what youve got into them, it sounds like you can take your sweet time getting them running again. Well done.

Also ...gimme pictures!

Thanks all! I know that she should have asked more but when I offered she insisted that $200 was enough. What is an honest guy to do? She did hang onto the Savage model 24 and I insisted that she go to the range with me so we could get her familiar with it again (it hasn't been loaded for decades). I'll be giving her some chestnuts the next time I see her.

Oh, and I was going to include pics when I posted but the camera battery is dead. Probably tomorrow if I don't get to it tonight.

I'm glad you posted that today. If I'm going to walk around jealous as hell all evening it might as well be on a Monday.

Great score!
