7-30 Waters. It is a necked down 30-30 case. The shoulder is pushed forward to increase powder capacity. I use a 140 grain soft point 7mm boattail bullet. I shoot it out of a 14 inch barreled Thompson Contender.

The 7-30 or 25-06 cartridges are no longer Wildcats. Both of these Ctgs. have been adopted by arms companies and can be bought OTC. The 22-250, .223 Rem, .220 Swift the list is endless that started out as Wild Cats.

I would think the 6.5-284 would be a great cartridge. Why? Shorter case, same capasity as the 06.

The Wildcat parent of the 25-06 Renington was the .25 Niedner. Remington changed the shoulder and neck to make the 25-06 Remington.

the one that i really like is the 6.5-06 A-Square. excellent ballistics and is one of the few legitimate wildcat cartridges left. doesn't and hasn't been offered as a factory chambering. no one makes factory loaded ammo for it. they make reamers for chambering, and barrel makers will chamber a barrel for it. you can get dies for reloading and even one company, Quality Cartridge makes headstamped cases for it. some of the load data books show data for it. it's not rare, but having one pretty much gaurantees that not everyone will have one.

The .264s are great. Axx55 how does that round compare to the .264 Win Mag. sounds close.
