Default our virgin hog guns

mine is a brand spanking new Marlin .444 on the top...

and my friend has an inherited Browning 71 in .348 below.....with sweet woodwork and engravings

the >$1000 difference isn't easily visible in either of these pics, but more so when you work the action and fire both back to back...

anyhoots we got out last night finally to break in the .444, 15 rounds each and we had one hot gun and a couple sore shoulders...not as bad as i thought it was going to be though...
(i think i still had that crazy youtube video in my head someone had posted up a while back of that gun with the crazy recoil that was knocking everyone over.....)

and we both kept all the rounds within the 8 oval, granted that wasn't more than 60-70' away though.

sore or not, the moral of the story is: I love both of these guns, and I can't wait to go hog hunting with em.

just my two cents but i wouldnt want to take a rifle out to hunt that i cant consistently place rounds within 3'' or less of center.. never heard a hog that had an 8 in. diamter heart. :P... but... the rifles do look sexy!

but i thought those texas hogs were the giant russian ones with the "fantasy camp" size killzones

very good point though and I agree 100% which is why I will spend the next 6 months tightening up that grouping and even pushing it out some distance wise.

Its my first lever action and substantial caliber as well so I also need to get better at working the action without dropping the rifle from my shoulder to reload. I was having some significant recoil anticipation last night though thats for sure, and I'll need to work that out too.

How can you tell if the hog is a virgin? You must have some serious ninja-like stalking skills.

Nice looking guns!!! The bottom one looks like it has some really nice wood.

Where you at in Illinois that has hogs? I'm up north of Peoria a few miles and haven't encountered any.
