Dear all

Thank you very much for the advice. I just bought a marlin 25-06. Will post reviews later. Using a simmons scope on it. I know this round does better in longer barrels but it came with a 22 in barrel. Did research and all I'm losing is at most 100fps Using 100 grain remingtons for sighting (until final sighting) and 117 gr hornady for ga whitetail

Thanks again for all the ideas

i reload for my Marlin XL7C in 25-06, so i probably pick up a little that might belost in having the 22" barrel. mine with some of the reloads i have worked up usually will be just one ragged hole at 100 yards! you will enjoy it for sure!

good luck and have fun with it.

I really like the 7mm Rem mag,I hunt some fairly large crop fields where any where from 10 yards to over 350 yard shots are quite common.
I use a handloaded 160 grain Nosler partition bullet traveling 3100 ft per sec. zeroed in at 200 yards,it's only 34 inches low at 500 yds. and still retaining over 1700 ft. lbs of energy at 500 yds.

My longest shot with the 7mm rem mag was actually a buck and doe in the same field. I saw the doe first feeding she was 489 yds with my rangefinder, squeezed off on the trigger and she disappeared, that's when I saw the buck running, once he gave me a stopped broadside shot the 7mm rem mag dropped him in his tracks at 506 yds.

I love that rifle and cartridge!!

I posted before reading the whole tread, 25-06 is a fine flat shooting cartridge and I hear a lot of good reviews about the Marlins....Congrats

By 24-06 did you mean 25-06? Why did you not include the ubiquitous .270?
