old ? with a twist .308 and barrel length,velocity,accuracy

ive got imo the perfect rifle for me ...question for guys more knowledgable than i. if standard barrel 22'' was cut to say carbine length 16''-18''then fitted with kdf muzzle break/arrestor..would velocity equal itself out as if it was un-cut? as well as more truck /utility friendly being shorter like a "scout'' rifle as col. cooper always talked up...accuracy shouldnt suffer either would it...rifle is remington 7600 pump .308 syn ar style pistol grip buttstock, talley mounts,3x9 nikon, barrel band sling set up, steel high capacity mags....and yes they work. trigger job..breaks at 3.5 lbs

You are going to lose velocity any time you cut the barrel length. Doesn't matter if you put a break on it or not.

the break just redirects gases and that is it.

Accuracy may suffer as you are changing the barrel harmonics. Anytime you do something to the barrel you are changing the harmonics and you are going to have to work a load up for it or install a break like the BOSS that is adjustable so you can adjust the harmonics to suit a specific factory load. This is done a lot in the rimfire benchrest community because you can't reload for it.

length and velo

thanks for the info ...i like it as is but i like to try new things ,change looks and have something unique that works ...the kdf brake could get by on looks alone ...sweet
