Add the desc implies I have been looking for a 270 preferably but also at 30-06. Anyhow I just got word from a friend that he found a savage 7mm( not sure even of the options other than an -08) for 300 with scope. Can anyone tell me how is anno availability for these and how it compares to a .270. My goal in this search is a gun I can shot long(er) ranges with and be able to kill pretty much any game I encounter. I really want to goop elk hunting eventually. I have a 223 that I can plink out to 500 with so I want to add one bigger to the collection. Thanks guys

I found its a 7mm magnum!

Excellent cartridge. More power than a 270. Widely available.

Its a wood stocked, older savage, pre accu trigger with 3-9x40 scope. Ammo pricing and availability is Mt main thing. I can get.270 for about 1$ s round but 7mm is 2$ online. Need stop at wal mart to check apples...

Stop.

7 mm WHAT??? These are a BUNCH of different 7mm rounds.

They do NOT interchange. 7mm mauser, 7mm WSSM, 7mm Mag, etc etc etc.

I have a Ruger M77 7mm Rem. Mag. and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Ammo is never too difficult to find but can sometimes get a bit pricey. For me and how I use it, definitely worth the price!

Its a 7mm mag. only thing I don't want is to pay 2$ per round to go shoot.

7MM Rem Mag is a cartridge that does best handloading.

Sweet, I looked at ammotogo. Was going to check Walmart for remingtons which brownells had for the same ball park as 270 and 06. I'm waiting to see the gun and if I like it. I want to get a comp stock for it but don't know the model yet. I'm not that concerned about the accuyrigger but was told that some if the old savages had troublesome triggers
