the M770 is cheap. they are junk. i owned one and have shot several. the stocks are flimsy, the triggers are heavy and gritty feeling, bolts are sloppy and bind and most are not very accurate. save yourself time and money and pass by them.
there are much better choices at or near he same price point. the Marlin X7 series, the Savage Axis series, the Mossberg ATR100 series, the Howa 1500 or Weatherby Vanguard, (they are the same rifle, different stocks) the Ruger American, the new Remington M783 and then there is always a nice used rifle.
+1 on that. The 770 is a dog. +1 on nice used rifle
I bought the Rem 783 in .270, after comparing, handling and firing the Ruger and the Savage. It has all the best features of the other rifles but a heck of a lot more durable (hunting). I especially like the trigger. Last time at the range my 100 yard group was .375 inches. I don't work for Remington so I am only telling you this because I was very impressed.
