That rifle was a big deal when it first came out. They really are nice rifles for the money. If I get a chance I will get a better gun, but I think I will just get the 770. I was going to get a 91-30 and get a custom Boyd's stock for it, but after I get everythingi need for my mosin build (gun, stock, sniper bolt, "scout" rail, rings and a scope) I would have more into the mosin build than the sale price of the 770.

I like the 30-06 but my son inlaw swears by his .300 Savage.
He's a born and bred 2nd generation Alaskan, that hunts anything he can put on the table and usually one shot does it.

Don't buy that piece of crap!
If your wanting a Remington, only buy a 700. You will never regret it,they are fine rifles, and well worth the extra cash.

Looked OK to me in the video.

What's the problem with the 770? - Enquiring minds would like to know.

Very bad fit and finish, Plastic where it should be steel, pressure fit barrel. Just do a search on the net, plenty of issues from the bolt to accuracy.

Yep....what he said. There are way better options for the money. I would rather have a good used ADL than any new 770.

It's going to be used for recreation and the occasional out of state big game hunt (elk, caribou, leopard, mulies, etc).

I also had a good 770 of the batch on sale at dicks for 289. Mine is great for the price. But I also just got a savage model 110 used with Simmons scope 30-06 for $300. Look for used on armslist or Facebook. Plenty of good deals around

My still goto hunting rifle is my Rem. Model 721 ( it's about my age) I picked up in a pawn shop for $150.00 and it included a Tasco 3-9X32 scope, I had to replace the scope about 2 years ago when my daughter fell on her butt on an ice slick cabin porch/steps and broke it( the scope, NOT the rifle)
