I'd like to see a weapon with unlimited ammo capacity, adjustable "Knockdown" power, yet light weight; much like the AR platform. Think outside the box.

Fantasy stuff, but things that undoubtedly will happen at some time in the future.
A new slant on the AR system chambered with the 7.62X39 would be a definite game changer on the battlefield. Reliability, weight, accuracy, would all be issues to be addressed, but keep that plasma rifle in the back of your mind.
