Need opinions about a fun, accurate range gun

Hi guys im new to the forum(as you can see) and need some help on whats a fun range gun. My dad and i have been shooting for a long time(mostly waterfowl and sporting clays, but we have shot many rifles that are mostly lever or bolt action) we have a few good reliable gun store around here but we live in new york, with all these laws my chances for a dream ar15 like a daniel defense mk18 are 0(almost everything about that gun is illegal here). Anyway we went to the local shop yesterday and my brother pointed out a kriss super v. I checked that and a simple ar15 out and due to the fact that being able to have alot of cool technology on a rifle is limited here i like the uniqueness of the super v. Overall i understand they are 2 completely different guns for different applications but want to see what your guys opinion is on these to weapons.

Isn't the Kriss a short barreled weapon (less than 16") ? If so that will most likely be more headaches than an AR.

There are NY compliant ARs that should be available to you. Just no bayo lug, collapsing stock or flash hider, look for a post ban configuration. For range use they are loads of fun. Other choices would be a Mosin 91/30 or M44 carbine. No detachable mag so no AWB worries. In semi auto a Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin 60 are fun, inexpensive plinkers. You can shoot a thousand rounds for about $50.

No doubt about it- I lean (heavy) toward the Ruger

Thanks for the quick reply and yes they do have the kriss in a carbine length 16in barrel which has a wide shroud making it look like a silencer thanks for all the other options not trying to be rude but i was pretty set on an ar style rifle but with all the ny laws and the scarce availability of preban magazines i like the option of a 16in super v. Does anyone have any first hand use of the super v or a nice ny compliant ar15.

One more question because of the no more than 10rd magazine laws on rifles, because the kriss shoots a pistol round with a glock magazine does the law still count for that gun???

yes. any magazine be it 9mm or .223 can only have ten rounds, ubless its grandfathered in meaning older than 1994. both my pistols have ten rounders. i have 4 30 round ar mags that are preban. the preban mags are all over at guns shows here in ny. they are abotu 30 bucks a peice but hey ny laws suck. and you can still be happy with an ar in ny. i have mine its a stag and perfectly legal. you can have the baynet lug, colaspible stock, but you can have carbine style. you can have the m4 style stock but it just has to be pinned in place.. it can be piined fully extended or fully shrunk. just has to be pinned. and besdies looks i dont see how not having the baynet lug ruins the fun the ar platform holds. stag makes good ny versions.

Thanks, im not saying a ny ar15 isnt fun an i dont need the collapsable stock or bayonet lug it just the short magazine bothers me and the possibility that i wont find at least 2 preban ar mags is troubling.also im in love with magpul and would love to get a moe or ctr stock(i dont know who will or how to pin a stock legally)

If you are limited to 10 rounds, why not look at a High point 995? I have one that I bought the 1st year they were introduced. 15+ years and still running fine. They were $110.00 when I bought it, close to $300.00 now. It is no 100 yard tack driver, but fine for 50 yards.

Thanks again for all the info but we sort of want something that is more accurate and unique. Has anyone shot the kriss super v with a 16in barrel(or any type).

.45acp is no 100 yard round either. Unique, the Kriss is that, but without full auto the system reduces recoil only. Most pistol caliber carbines are very light recoil, especially in semi anyway. $1600.00 over the Highpoint would buy lots of ammo. Good luck whatever your choice. The Highpoint is very functional. This is mine w/ an old Soviet 4x32 scope.
The Fugly Bastard!!! "Iron" sights are similar to the MP5
