Default Need input for upcoming black bear hunt!!!

So I own a 30-30, 7.62x54r, and that is about it for rifles. I am however thinking about getting a 22inch 44mag barrel for my HR single shot. What would be my best bet for hunting?!?!

Depend in what part of the country your in, size of bear, type of bear. A .30-30 w/ a 180gr at 50 yards over bait will work on average black bear.

Bless You!!!

Please, after it is down, take some demeaning pictures of the bear, maybe a silly hat and a neckerchief or something.

I really think anything less than a few hundred rounds of .22LR or .223 or some other squirrel caliber is too kind for a bear, but he may want the hide.

Don't they make some 200+grain rounds in 7.62x54mm?

Like boiling a frog. Coax him into a cool bath, then slowly and gradually stoke the fire.

Now for a more serious approach to your question!

Google: "30-30 for Black Bear", there are several good articles available. Depending on your hunting environment, a .30-.30 is a viable option, if not the best one.
