They are a little less expensive than the Remington although I am an avid Remington fan. We had 7 of the Remington 700 PSS Systems on the Team. But at the schools the Savage 110 Tactical will shoot right up there with the 700 PSS Rifles. And with the accutrigger they also have a great trigger. They have the heavy barrel and would do a nice job for what you described.

Jca already suggested looking at the Savage rifles and I told him they weren't available in Finland, but I´ve now found couple of shops that do sell them. They don't have prices on their websites, so I´ll have to email them. They don't have the 110 Tactical listed, but most likely it´s possible to order one.

The models they have listed are 12 F/TR, 12 BTCSS, 10 FP and 10 FPC. They all appear to have the accutrigger but how are the stocks? Other thoughts about these rifles?

Thanks for your help Sniper03!

The Savage 10 Precision Carbine has a 20" heavy barrel, and Accu Trigger and an Accu Stock. It comes in 223 and 308. 1/2 MOA with good ammo. The trigger is set lighter than on the hunting rifles but is adjustable. About $700 here.

Ok, sounds really good. At 700$ there, it should be around 1200-1400$ here.

Thanks!

Ok, now that my purchase permit came through I´m getting closer to buying my first centerfire rifle.

I've now handled a CZ 550 (didn't like the bolt, so that one´s out), a Howa Varmint with a laminate stock (liked the bolt, the stock was a bit slippery but otherwise felt really nice) and a Remington 700 SPS Tactical (bolt was ok, stock felt nice but I´ve understood the Hogue stock does flex a bit like on the other SPS rifles). I´m still waiting for my LGS to get a Tikka T3 Varmint so that I could try that one out too. The Tikka is supposed to be a good shooter but the stock has been criticized by many for its looks and feel and it´s also a couple hundred more expensive.

So, I really can´t decide which rifle to get and again need input from you guys to steer me into the right direction.

I have a Weatherby Vanguard in .308 and love it. I am an occasional shooter though so my opinion should weigh a lot less than the experts.
