I just came from the range firing the Remington 700 VTR, no issues - fired 100 rounds of various .223 ammo.

There was a few others that had older Remington 700's no issues of ghost fire! That is just a hand full.

Your 700 VTR won't have any issues because it has the new X-Mark Pro Trigger group which incorporates the fix for the floating connector. According to the report this fix was created by the designer of the 700 trigger back in the late 1940s.

I know, just wanted to let everyone know! Plus, it needed some good range time. Finding, need a bigger and more powerful scope and obtain an annual range pass.

Another thing, being mechanical man constructed item, you never know! Example, VW dealer completes standard tune-up, they replaced the engine coil packs for free, no recall just another issue with the version of coil packs that was on the vehicle. Rather be safe, than sorry!

As far as that scope thing goes, and many here may call me a scope snob, heres my recommendation for a good 1000 yard scope.

Premier Reticles | Products

As far as the other issues go, I can be of no help.

That getting the gun to fire by just touching the bolt knob is most likely due to some LEO armorer performing a hack trigger job on the factory tirgger group.

More than not it's more cost effective to settle out of court than to ford the cost to win the suit.

Don't get me wrong, IF there is a problem with the 700 remington needs to cowboy up. But, as for all of the accidental shootings..... Muzzle awareness is paramount. on safe/ not on safe/ empty/ loaded.... it doesn't matter. There's a reason people start lawsuits after shooting a family member or friend..... It's usually to keep their own feet out of the fire and make themselves feel less at fault. Don't wanna shoot anybody? Don't point your gun at them.
