Mystery Fancygun
hey kids,

what is this lovely thing?

I wish i had more than just the photo but I was only sent a series of photographs of inherited guns and was curious as to what it was I was looking at.

I don't know, but it is gorgeous! :)

Odds are it doesn't have a model. Probably handcrafted by a gunsmith who died a hundred years ago.

Could use a few more pics of the other side, top and bottom as well

Have the owner look it over and see if there is any numbers/words stamped on it. Let us knw what is on it.

It is somebody w/ athlete's foot standing next to what is PROBABLY a Winchester 94. There have been a TON of "Commemorative" Win 94s cranked out- by Winchester, and by private companies that add roll engraving, plating, etc. The US Historical Society sells a lot of there- the WW II Garand, the Korean War M1 Carbine, Vietnam AR, etc. Will need close up pics of markings, etc- or hold the gun MUCH closer to the computer..........:p

Need better pics. At first glance it appears to be a special order deluxe model 94. But in that pic (and it may be camera angle) the receiver doesn't look long enough to be a 94. It looks like a totally revamped and engraved model 92.

great, I'll ask him.

and I'll tell him about the feets

It's hard to tell because of the picture quality, but I'll add a vote that it's one of the many Winchester 94 commemoratives.

That's pretty groovy :)

Is this a 30-30 carbine?
I'm very curious as to where he would have found that here in NZ,
though I do see some weird and exotic things from time to time.

check this out :) by a fellow kiwi and all

it's a .303 machine gun built from an enfield rifle.
