Default My Turkish 8mm Mauser

It is a K.Kale which I suspect was rearsenaled in 1944. Very old looking much more so than my M91/30. Had to clean minor amounts of cosmoline off of it. Otherwise it was a nice snag at $399 with tax. What I thought weird is I had to do no Form 4473 on it. Someone please explain that?

No 4473? That is odd. Should not be exempt. Was it a consignment?

Was it actually pre-1899? Bet it was. Turkish mausers were amongst the first sold internationally, and I know many were converted from the early 7.65 (Argentine) calliber subsequently to 8mm.

No I put it on layaway then came in and paid the rest off. I did buy my SKS from him though. I asked him if it needed a Form 4473 and he said "No it's too old it doesn't need one".

I'd bet he knew what he was doing. Antique-wise.

Yeah it's my first Pre-1899 gun I've ever bought. Really nice shape for a Pre-1899 gun. Just need to re-blue it.

Don't want it to rust or anything. Since the steel is really old. That's if I even do that.
