OK, The stock is finished. I had to do some fitting, but I'm very happy w/ it. I finished it w/ BLO and Hoppes gun wax. The woodland camo laminate looks stellar w/ this finish.
I stripped the rifle down to bare nothing and took it out for some test shots w/ the original iron sight just to see how she shot. I shot her unsupported/ standing. The bullets (140gr sp) hit exactly at POA. I dropped the action, bolt, new bolt handle and scope bases off at the smith last night. About a week (since he has a real job also) to get her back. My son wants the metal in forest green, not woodland camo, so that makes it easier for me. The rifle w/ scope will be under 7.5 pounds. The smith has the sling studs I wanted also. She sould be done by Christmas eve.

Well I have to wait till spring now to Dura coat it, but at least he can go shooting, hunting 'Yotes this winter. I did blue the bolt handle, extractor, and sleeve.

The rings are so so, so tomorrow I'm picking up a set of Weaver steel.
