You can hunt groundhogs & coyotes with hollow points, and rabbits & squirrels with FMJ or "solid" bullet loads. Interestingly a .22mag solid bullet performs terminally exactly like a .22LR HP, but with flatter trajectory and more penetration.

Bear, that is very interesting information. I was planning a squirrel hunt after deer season so the 783 may see some action very soon. Now I need to get some FMJs, the 2 boxes of CCI's I picked up are hollow points.

If you're talking tree squirrel and you are going to eat em, yeahh, get some FMJ's, but if you are talking ground rat then there is nothing wrong with those hollow points.
