My new Hi-Point .40 cal carbine

I just picked one of these up, for $279.00 I thought it was a good buy. I got it at a gun store about 50 miles from me and had to stop at the range with it still in the box to try it out.

In summary, I had a blast with it. I put 300 rounds of PMC and Blazers through it and it handled them beautifully. No failures or jams at all. I finished the range stint with pain on my thumb from loading the rifle :D

The recoil was minimal and despite the windage being wrong on the iron sights once I made the corrections it was dead on!!. It is not a light gun but looks awesome with the covers and rails that it comes with. I am heading out to the range tomorrow to play with it some more.

I adventured with field stripping it and although it was unusual it really was not too bad.

I have read many many opinions on line for this gun and the majority are bad. I have re-read most of those and found them to be from people that dont own one. For now I am happy with this purchase. I own another .40 cal gun so I can share ammo :)

I will update tomorrow with some more observations and hopefully some pictures LOL

;)

Congrats! I have an old 995 from the 1st year they came out. I'll have to replace the stock as it has a few cracks in it now from abuse. I treat it like an AK. Barely clean it, abuse it. Still is in 100% mechanical order. I really have abused this carbine. $110.00 when I bought it new 15+ years ago.

Welcome to the carbine world. I have the 4595TS and the .45 JHP they complement each other, share ammo, share magazines, and support each other in destruction, fun, and skill building. Since you have the 4095TS, might as well get her partner, the Hi Point .40 JCP S&W.

Congrats on the purchase. I have a 995TS and love it.

Can you order the Hi Point to accept any hi cap pistol mags?

I remember the Kel Tech carbine could be ordered configured for just about any hi cap pistol mags out there so you could not only share ammo but have magazines interchangeable to serve both pistol and carbine.

I'm wondering if you can do the same with the Hi Point?

From what I understand, Hi Point is not going to make high capacity magazines. Maybe they will change their minds if a lot of folks ask for them. However, there is the ProMag HIP-A3 Hi-Point 995/995-TS 9mm Carbine 15-Round Magazine, Blued Steel.

Wow, it is nice to see some more users of the Hi Point carbines. I actually went looking for their 40 cal pistol but the store did not have it in stock. I will be putting some more rounds down range later today. I will post pics of the gun later.

lol

Congrats, you're gonna love it. I have a 4095 and it's a very accurate, reliable gun. I took a good size doe with it a few years ago. At close range (inside 50 yards) it has the power for a one shot kill. It is a little hard to take apart but not all that bad really. Most of the time I shoot it good with "Gun Scrubber", lube it up and it's good to go. Along with a life time warranty, you just can't beat them!

From what I've seen it looks like the best way to spend $279.00. Congrats on the new gun.
