My most prized rifle is broke
I discovered that my Colt Sauer 300 weatherby mag. has a hairline crack in the bottom of the stock just behind the trigger housing that extended up into the main part of the stock. This rifle is my true love in rifles. (they don't make them anymore) Well, I have called and researched the web for a week and found out that this was a common problem with Sauer stocks. Colt gave me the name of an old timer that worked with Sauer many years ago. Anyway, after much more searching and recommendations, I found a shop in Hamilton MT. that makes Colt-Sauer replacement stocks, that look like the org. The stocks are not cheap, but my rifle is not cheap either. I mailed my rifle off yesterday for stock replacement. They make the stock to fit the individual rifle to perfection. Once I get it back I will follow up with a report.

If you find an old smith they can fix it. You'll never know there was an issue. A cross bolt will be nessesary, but they can make it look perfect.

Yep. Drill it, counter sink it, insert screw, pack screw hole w sawdust from drilling, laquor it then stain to match the rest of the stock......the matching of the stain is the hardest part.

Cheaper then a new stock, and original.

why didn't you try repairing the crack with an epoxy glue?
