I saw a pre '64 M70 today in .225 Winchester for $700. I probably should have bought it.
BTW, you have a very nice collection. Those are all great rifles.

I love my M70 too, mine is the "shadow" model. Its one of the cheaper M70s but its a tack driver. I installed a Pentax 3x9x50 lightseeker scope and a harris bi-pod. Its a 7mmwsm, no advantage over the normal 7mm that ive noticed, but its a great shooting rifle

I have a 1963 Featherweight in 30-06 with a Leupold MK II 2-7 scope. It shoots close to MOA with handloads as long as I don't let the barrel get to warm.

Are you sure it was a 225 Winchester? That cartridge made its debut with the 1964 version of the Model 70. Winchester dumped the 220 Swift in '63 and replaced it with the 225 Winchester in their '64 Model 70. That's probably why the price was $700. A pre-64 in good condition is worth at least twice that amount.
