As someone above said "I like guns " and I got all excited when I saw the title of this thread.

As stated many times the .300 Win.Mag.is a hard act to follow.My own rifles run from 25-06, .264 Win.Mag.,.270, 30-30, 30-06, 300 Win Mag. and the best all around caliber in the world the .375 H&H, loaded properly the .375 works well on white tail deer and equally well on anything on this continent.

The only drawback is that the rifle ( Mod.70 Winchester "Super Express") is a bit heavy to carry all day.

If I was 40 years younger and not a gun nut it would be my do everything rifle.

Don't mistake taking enough gun with I am a crappy shot so I must have the biggest baddest rifle on the planet. or I can shoot deer at 200 yards so I can shoot elk at 800.

Your right though(not tho) I'm a good shot and I love my old calibers. 400 yards w/ any rifle/ caliber is a very respectable range to harvest game.
Since I hunt, a 200 yard shot is much better, and I can get that far away. I really don't think I have ever used a caliber or rifle to its' full potential as far as distance. Never needed to. My brain still works.
