Mosin Nagant M91/30

Good for hunting anything...... From Rabbits to Detroit Engine Blocks on a Freightliner Truck !!!! Was going for 110.00 in N. Georgia area Pawn and Gun Shops ..... Now 170.00 ... With bayonet, belt and ammo pouches and that miserable oil can !!!

Welcome to the FTF forum, by the way. The Mosin Nagant 91/30 are truly great rifles that can be purchased for relatively cheap dollars just about anywhere. I thought about getting me one when I decided suddenly upon a Chinese Norinco SKS instead. :)

Hey there, SLB. Welcome to the FTF.

Do your research, and get

your preferred Mosins now. The word is getting out,

and the well is drying up.

"Miserable oil can"? I find it very handy, as it is still

sound, to bring small amounts of Mobil1 and ATF

to the range, for field cleaning barrels. Especially

the ones shooting corrosive combloc ammo.

But you must have a lot of high quality, compact, metal

containers, with tight threaded lids available at stores

around you. Would you kindly send me details, so I can order

some, please ?

PB, a buddy of mine just got a clean Chinese SKS with

the cruciform bayo. What a beautiful rifle. How much did it

set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

110.00 dollars two years ago...... And the kicker---- all my serial numbers matched !! On gun and bayonet.

Don't know if I would really choose it to go rabbit hunting... but I suppose you could actually kill a fly with a sledgehammer.

Bayonets were not originally serialized to the gun, IIRC.

All the S/N were forced match during the post WWII refurbishment so that's pretty common.

Sounds like you got a good deal.

Supplies run out, demand rises, and so does cost.

In the acquisition of our Mosins, some of us were

knowledgeable and experienced, but

some of us just got lucky. Is it an Izzy or Tula?

Hex or round receiver?

What year? Any capture markings?

Are you interested in selling it, or something?

shawnlewanebrown 06-17-2013 02:42 PM

Not sure about Izzy or Tula, Hex receiver , 1942 model, made in Georgia...... Never for sale.

SSGN_Doc 06-17-2013 05:49 PM

If there is a star wiht an arrow, it is Tula manufactured. An Izshevsk would have an arrow in a triangle or early ones had a bow and arrow. Probably not made in Georgia, but possibly imported to Georgia.

I the Century Arms is in Georgia Vermont so the import mark says Georgia Vt.
