Mosin-Nagant M91/30
I see these rifles around fairly cheap, could someone give me some input on these. are the worth picking up if I can get them under $100?
|
Great rifle for the money. I have a couple myself and enjoy them.

Worth much more than $100.00. Fun guns!

Crude, ugly, heavy, not tacticool- and will still shoot accurately after having a building fall on it. Can be maintained by a Russian peasant that had never seen a light switch. Enough power to have an effective range measured in zip codes. One of the few rifles that an ocean of CHEAP Milsurp ammo is still available for- and this marvel of Commie Engineering is available for less than the price of a plastic stocked 22 rifle.
Of course you should not buy one. They get lonely like that. Buy 2. |
Absolutely, I love them. You have to get them in pairs. :D

Very worth it.. Great fun to shoot. Tends to get the range-master's attention. "Who's got the boomer?"
You can find them with bores black as dirt, counter-bored, and dinged up to hell and back, and then take it to the range and put holes in paper at 100 yards with the iron sights. Milsurp ammo comes in the flavor of 23 cents/round (clean well after shooting, it is usually corrosive). Part of the fun is also the cosmoline clean-up after you first pick it up! You'll learn how simple it is to take apart and put back together. |
I'll throw another related question out here if I may...
Hex or round receiver? is one easier to mount a scope to than the other? one more desirable from a collectors point of view? |
