Default Mosin Nagant 91/30 scope suggestions

Hello everyone New here, and a fairly new gun owner.

I have a Mosin Nagant 91/30. It's a pretty old one with a hex bolt. Been wanting to put a scope on it, but don't want to bend the bolt. I have heard that you can put a rail on it, but that the scope may wiggle a bit if you do this.

Any suggestions for a good mount or a good scope to use?

Thanks!

This mount http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/rings-mounts-bases/mount-sets/mosin-nagant-mount-prod26104.aspx

Then you need a long eye relief pistol scope.

Someone else can help ya with pistol scopes

You want an adjustable handgun scope with some power (many of them are fixed, low power). Consider the Swift 2-6x long eye relief scope. It has a thin reticle, suitable for target rifle shooting. For $100 it was a good match to my octagon Mosin.

This mount seems pretty solid...its' the one I've been thinking about...although I have no personal experience with it...yet...

No drilling and tapping...

Use straight bolt...

Still use iron sights...

Keep the originality of the rifle...

More than half the cost of the rifle itself but hey, what are ya gonna do...

Scope choices are on you, that's out of my comfort zone...

This is the mount I used, but bought for $15. Same design, and rock solid (I was skeptical).

Not brasstacker. May be USG, beats me. There were a lot of them an the gun show. I took a chance and was glad I did.

Edit. Correction. I am not sure now it is the same exact design. The mount I got replaced the rear sight blade. You punch out the pin, take the blade out with the slider, and then attach the mount with screws through the pin holes. Then secure the rail with more screws. No drilling, and everything is removable if you want the iron sight back. I was happy with it.

I bought a brasstacker and found the screws fit loosely and allow movement. I used JB weld on the screws to remedy the slop. Works but kind of mickey mouse.

If you take the rear sight fixture off, there is a 3/8" dovetail rail the Russians' used to mount the rear sight fixture on to the rifle. You can either use really high dovetail rings or get a dovetail-weaver conversion rail. You will still need to get a long eye-relief scope if you don't want to use a red-dot or a reflex sight.
