Mosin Nagant 91 30

So, I have a mosin that I'm dying to shoot. I haven't checked the head space..nor do I really know how. Everyone I shoot with says "it will be fine."...and I being a Nancy? I know I need to check firing pin protrusion. Also does anyone know or have any expirence with 7.62x54r dummy rounds? I'd like to get some but amazon is a little pricey.

To check firing pin protrusion, use the multi tool that came with the gun.

To check headspace, get a go, no go gauge. Though, head space on Mosins are usually fine.

Pretty much all the surplus 7.62x54r is on the weak end of things. Unless your getting your mosin from billy bob all the ones being sold "new" are good to go as they are coming out of cosmoline the russian factory slaves put them in after refurb.

Mine didn't come with the tool to measure pin protrusion. I've got to pick up an aftermarket one.

Usually, Mosins come with a cleaning kit, ammo pouch, sling, tool, oil can, and bayonett.
